They sell dreams and win our hearts. They might not know us, but we make them stars. They are our celebs and we are their fans. Often we come across reports on how some fans have pleased or even harassed their favourite celebrity stars. To an extent, the stars have no option but take severe actions against their admirers.

But who draws the line between a celebrity and his fan? While the icons are seen finding their way out from a crowd of admirers, their fans make every possible attempt to get closer to their superstars. To an extent, that even a handshake or a smile of their superstar fills their heart. However, sometimes possessing an item used by or belonging to the celebrity is the closest
A fan’s craze for his celebrity has gone to such an extent that he/she has shelled out millions just to own some of the minutest belongings of the star. YourMoneySite gives you a small list of some very unique celebrity memorabilia that fetched humungous amounts of money.
Justin Timberlake
Not all that is edible is meant to eat! Well, it stands true at least in this case.
In 2006, Justin Timberlake had an interview with New York radio station Z-100 over breakfast. However, he did not finish a plate of French toast served to him. And later, Timberlake’s leftover toast was put on eBay by the DJ of the radio show for auction. It was bought by a fan for $3,154.
When the DJ asked the fan about what would she do with the toast, she replied that, “I will probably freeze-dry it, then seal it, then put it on my dresser." Now that’s some food for thought!
Britney Spears
A leftover toast can still be eaten, but what can make someone spend as much as $14,000 for a chewed gum?
Well, a die-hard Britney Spears’ fan bought her chewed chewing gum from eBay in 2004. Reports suggest that the ‘seller competed with himself on the site and pushed the price into thousands’. When the gum wad was put up for sale on eBay, to mark its authenticity, the seller included photos and a ticket stub mentioning where the gum was chewed and spit out.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie
They say, ‘life is priceless’. But a breath definitely comes with a price tag! According to reports, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s breath, ‘stored’ in a jar by someone as they walked on red carpet, was sold on eBay for $530! Hah!
Scarlett Johansson
In 2008, during “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” Scarlett Johansson (who had caught cold) blew her nose, and placed her used tissue in a bag, which she signed.
The tissue was bought for a staggering $5,300 on eBay. Later, BBC News reported that Johansson donated the auction amount to hunger charity USA Harvest. Now that definitely proves the saying ‘someone’s pain is another’s gain’.
Justin Bieber
The teen pop sensation’s tresses were bought on eBay for a whopping $40,668. The amount was later donated to an animal rescue organisation - The Gentle Barn Foundation. Ever wonder what would be the worth of Rapunzel’s hair?
Elvis Presley
In 2009, in yet another auction, an Elvis Presley fan bought clippings of the king's hair for $15,000. This was however considered as a big fall from a 2002 auction where a lock of hair of the legend was sold for nearly 10 times as much.
The hair locks were said to be from 1958, when Elvis Presley had cut his hair to join the army.
JD Salinger
It is believed by many that some of the best thoughts come to mind while in a lavatory. And based on this belief, in 2010, someone had put up JD Salinger’s porcelain toilet for auction on eBay. The writer’s porcelain toilet was listed on eBay for price of $1 million.
Justifying the price tag for the toilet sheet, the seller said, “Salinger is believed to have left behind a substantial volume of unpublished writing, and...surely he conceived some of it while sitting on the porcelain throne,” New York reported at the time.
Charlie Chaplin
From eaten toast to a toilet commode, celebrity items have grossed whopping amounts during auctions. But due to lack of identity, a rare Charlie Chaplin film went for meager $5.
According to reports, a film named Charlie Chaplin in Zepped was discovered only after its buyer picked up the item from eBay. Apparently, according to the Telegraph, the collector found the tin the film came in attractive and thus bought it for $5.
Charlie Chaplin in Zepped is a seven-minute animated silent film from 1917, has been valued at up to $63,000 now.
Marilyn Monroe
She was one of the most beautiful and controversial actresses. She ruled millions of hearts. She was Marilyn Monroe!
Like the actress, her memorabilia also stands out loud. The actress’s daughter had put up Marilyn Monroe’s chest X-rays for sale at Planet Hollywood Resort, Hollywood Legends auction. The actress’s chest x-rays were expected to fetch around $3,500-$4,500, however, they got a good price of $45,000.
The set of three X-rays, taken in 1954, carries her married name of Marilyn Di Maggio.
