With
Dabangg, Ready, Bodyguard and Ek
tha Tiger scoring over Rs 100 crore each at the box-office, actor Salman
Khan has been among the top tax payers of Bollywood. However, this year around,
Khan has surpassed his last year’s earnings by paying 60% more advance tax in the
July-September quarter this year.
According
to PTI reports, for the quarter ended September 2012, Salman Khan has paid advance
tax of Rs 8 crore versus Rs 5 crore, in the same period last year. It is
interesting to note that with only one movie to his name – Ek Tha Tiger - so far this year, Khan has become the highest tax
payer in Bollywood. Actor Akshay Kumar, who had two consecutive super hits – Housefull 2 and Rowdy Rathore, is second in the list. Kumar paid an advance tax of
Rs 7.5 crore compared to Rs 5 crore, same period last year.
On
other hand, Bollywood’s Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan, who did not have any releases this
year so far, ranked third in the list of highest tax payers in Bollywood. Khan
paid an advance tax of Rs 5 crore same as last year. Like Khan, veteran actor
Amitabh Bachchan also paid an advance tax of Rs 5 crore against Rs 1.4 crore in
2011.
Among
ladies, former Miss World and Bollywood’s new mother Aishwarya Rai Bachchan paid
the maximum advance tax of Rs 3 crore versus Rs 1.1 crore in July-September 2011.
Second on the list was Katrina Kaif, followed by Kareena Kapoor at the third
position, with advance tax of Rs 2.60 crore and Rs 2.20 crore respectively.
